Avion Ridge Day Hike in Waterton Lakes National Park

Some friends and I hiked up Avion Ridge via Goat Lake in Waterton Lakes National Park!

This is a relatively difficult hike over roughly 21.5km with stunning views of the mountains and lakes. We encountered sun, rain, snow, and wind all in one afternoon, but were rewarded for our efforts by the majesty of the Rocky Mountains.

Waterton Lakes National Park will always be one of my favourite places to hike. It’s not far from where I grew up so I spent many summer days hoofing it up these mountains and playing in Red Rock Canyon.

If you’re ever in Alberta and want some stunning views of the Rocky Mountains and a variety of hikes at every level, Waterton is the place for you.
